2004 I.S.P. of the Year
2004 ISP of the Year
Congratulations to the 2004 I.S.P of the Year, Grant Kerr, I.S.P.Grant is the President of CIPS Saskatchewan which is the Provincial association with the purpose of promoting the Information Systems Professional of Canada (I.S.P.) Certification.
In this role, Grant has the responsibility of having the I.S.P. recognized through legislation as a professional designation within Saskatchewan. Grant has dedicated the time and energy required to move the I.S.P. legislation forward in the face of little or no road map or established process. He has maintained his focus on the legislation, moving it forward, given some initial attempts and set backs.
As a reminder, the advancement of I.S.P. in Saskatchewan with formal legislation will institutionalize the following:
- Administer the legislation or regulation that enables the self-regulating professional body (I.S.P.);
- Evaluate and certify qualified I.S.P. applicants (delegated to the Certification Council);
- Hear formal complaints against, and discipline Members, as the need arises;
- Administer the I.S.P. of Canada designation within the province of Saskatchewan;
- Promote the I.S.P. and professional practice within the provincial IT industry;
- Develop and maintain national certification standards through Membership in the Certification Council.
In Grant's role as President of CIPS Saskatchewan, he has had to dedicate personal time to ensure CIPS Saskatchewan is represented and visible within the two Saskatchewan CIPS sections; Regina CIPS and Saskatoon CIPS.
