ITIL V3 Foundation Sept 28-30 and Oct 26-28 Regina. This is the first course for getting started in ITIL and includes the certification exam which is a pre-requisite for all the advanced ITIL courses.
Understanding Project Management Oct 14-15 Regina. This workshop covers a basic PM approach and more importantly, teaches the key skill of creating a plan with the task dependencies. Many projects miss deadlines due to the lack of planning in this area.
CIPS members are eligible for a $100 discount for these courses.
ITIL ½ day overview Sept 10 (AM) Regina. This session describes the concepts of Service Management and provides an overview of all the phases of the ITIL V3 Service Lifecycle.

We'll show examples of the tools, how to acquire the electronic documents (and the associated risks), and how to analyze the data. This presentation takes a practical look at why every organization should utilize penetration testing as one of the tools in its security arsenal. It looks at the basics of penetration testing by outlining the steps involved as well as the open-source and commercial tools that can be utilized to complete your penetration test. This session is ideal for IT personnel who are interested in and/or responsible for security and who would like to know more about the art of penetration testing.

In his 20+ years in IT Rick has worked in most aspects of security from firewall analyst, security architect, security integration specialist, security consultant, business continuity planning, policy development, compliance assessment, and penetration tester. Rick is currently employed as a security manager in Corporate Security at SaskTel. Rick is also active in numerous other aspects of the information security community. He volunteers as an incident hander with the Internet Storm Center (isc.sans.org), participates in numerous projects with SANS and GIAC including the annual Top 20 vulnerabilities list, courseware development and revision, GIAC Gold advisor, SANS Advisory Board, and as a Director in Training for the SANS Technical Institute. Rick also participates in the ethics side of IT and information security as one of the founding members, and past chair of the GIAC Ethics Council and as a founding member of the CIPS Saskatchewan Professional Conduct Committee. Speakers:
CIPS Saskatchewan plans to continue with program activities in both Regina and Saskatoon. This includes luncheon and dinner presentations as well as the annual Spring Seminar. If you are knowledgeable about a topic that may be of interest to CIPS members and are looking for an opportunity to share your insight with your local IT community, we want to hear from you. In addition, if you know of a potential speaker that may be visiting Saskatchewan, be sure to let us know.
Program Committee Members:
These volunteers will have the opportunity to help develop programming content for events in both Regina and Saskatoon. Brainstorming luncheon speakers and/or discussion topics as well as being a part of short monthly conference calls will be typical activities for volunteers in this area. The committee already consists of very experienced individuals that are looking for some fresh ideas from other professionals.
Short Term Analytical & Technical Experience Needed:
With the growing interest in CIPS events, we are looking for individuals that would like to help develop an Online Registration Solution for CIPS Saskatchewan. We are looking for people that could volunteer a small amount of time to perform such tasks as Requirements Gathering, Process Mapping and Web Development to help create a new level of convenience for our event registration.
